I woke up thinking about yesterday’s cloture vote. What’s stuck with me is listening to one Republican after another talk in the Senate about the potential filibuster being ‘partisan’ politics, pandering to ‘extremist groups.’

How does that complaint work exactly? The Republicans voted as a block. Isn’t that ‘partisan’ politics? The Alito Nomination is clearly a response to the Religious Right. Isn’t that pandering to ‘extremist groups’?

Is ‘spin’ all there is?

yesterday i noticed you comment at fdl ” Looking at these results, the problem isn’t the Republican control of the Congress, it’s the Republican control of the Democrats in the Congress.” and sent it to a friend. this morning when i woke up i had forgotten about it but was thinking along a similar vein. how hilary is right about the plantation, the senate republicans who all stay in line are like the house slaves, they get the best jobs. but the totally demoralized slaves are the dems who are afraid to step outta line, carrying water for the massa. when my friend emailed me back asking about the original of the quote i went on a little search this morning. found your site. thanks
