Joe Lieberman…

Posted on Friday 7 July 2006

The blogosphere has thrown itself into the campaign for Ned Lamont in Connecticut. I don’t know anything about Ned Lamont other than that, and that he opposes the war. But I do have something to say about Joe Lieberman. He is a member, actually a ranking member, of two groups, called The Committee on the Present Danger and The Committee for the Liberation of Iraq. If you don’t know what they are, read the Wikipedia [1][2]entries. The membership includes most of the old anti-communist Hawks, the Zionists, and the Neoconservatives. The Committee on the Present Danger has come and gone as a Hawkish, anti-"commie" organization since the 1950’s.

This is a trend in American Foreign Policy, supported by what Eisenhower called "The Military Industrial Complex" and the real "Hawks" - both of whom advocate preemptive war. There are "Doves" in our world - people who oppose all war at any cost. I’d love to be one, but I’m not. I supported our first Gulf War and I support our going after Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. But these people are just plain Warmongers. Lieberman gives lofty reasons for supporting the Iraq War, but the reasons are something of a smoke screen. Lieberman is a Hawk - the kind that gets our children killed for no good reason

Go Ned Lamont! Whomever you are [actually, he looks pretty good]. In the debate last night, Lieberman tried to paint himself as an advocate for Connecticut. Unless Connecticut is pushing for World Domination by the American Military Machine, it’s actually a little hard to imagine what he’s talking about…

I didn’t watch it, but from what I’ve read Ned kicked the crap out of Holy Joe in the debate.
