Cheney, McCain, and Lieberman are all in Iraq right now, gathering good news to bring home for the coming campaign. The surge is working, they’ll say. Deaths are down. Our new strategy [hiring insurgents to fight on our side] is turning things around. Oil Production [the Hydrocarbon Law] is on the rise [almost up to the prewar levels]. So we’ve only lost 2.15 young Americans a day since the surge began almost down to our average [2.13.day] before the surge. Like the surges before, so long as we keep our troop levels up, the casualty rate falls. Yesterday, the New York Times published the most recent stats:
