"The Democrats want high taxes and are big spenders!" We hear it day after day. This is more data from the government web sites, The top graph is the US Income. Notice that Reagan/Bush Tax Cuts didn’t make much difference, though George W.’s did. But look at spending. The deficits in the last post were not from the tax cuts. They were from spending.
I don’t see how any Republican can look at these graphs and defend their tax and spend policies. And since they probably simply refuse to look at them, I don’t understand why some aspiring journalist doesn’t take up the project and question them relentlessly until they either answer or it becomes obvious to everyone that they are refusing to face facts.
I know, when bush was in office, they didn’t because it would mean being cut off from White House access. But that is no longer the case. It should get them an extra place at the table.
