see south carolina…

Who are these people, you ask? Well you know the guy on the left. It’s the now famous Mark Sanford, current Governor of South Carolina. And that pretty lady on the right? She’s Nikki Haley, a front-runner for Governor of South Carolina the next time around. That leaves Will Folks [AKA Sic Willie], the founder of the Conservative blog FitsNews.

So what’s up with this trio these days. We know about Governor Sanford. His wife is divorcing him and writing books about forgiving him that are less than forgiving. Meanwhile, he and his Argentine girlfriend are spending time together in Florida working on their relationship. And Will Folks? Well, he wrote a blog post yesterday that had this line in it:
Several years ago, prior to my marriage, I had an inappropriate physical relationship with Nikki.
He and his site support Nikki Haley in the Governor’s race, as do both Sanfords. He claims that her opponents were going to gradually leak this story, so he revealed it himself. Well Nikki and her campaign didn’t think he was so courageous and flat out denied the story. In the last day, accusations and stories have been flying around like buzzards over a fresh road kill. Here are a few compiled by FitsNews:
Says Sarah Palin, one of Nikki’s big backers:
Haley and Palin… When Nikki and I held her endorsement rally on the steps of the beautiful and historic South Carolina state house a few weeks ago, I warned her and her family that she would be targeted because she’s a threat to a corrupt political machine, and she would be put through some hell. That, unfortunately, is the nature of the beast in politics today – especially for conservative “underdog” candidates who surge in the polls and threaten to shake things up so government can be put back on the side of the people.

South Carolina: don’t let some blogger make any accusation against your Nikki if the guy doesn’t even have the guts or the integrity to speak further on such a significant claim. And don’t believe anything a liberal rag claims or suggests unless the reporter involved has the integrity and the facts to report to you so you can make up your own mind. For traditional media to rely on an accusation via some blog entry is almost laughable, but I know the seriousness of it because that’s exactly what my family and colleagues have had to put up with, every single day, for the past couple of years.
Never one for precision, Sarah’s calling Fitsnews a liberal rag is priceless. Fitsnews is kind of silly, but a it’s not a liberal rag. In fact it’s not a liberal anything. It’s a Conservative blog founded by Folks, the former spokesperson for Governor Sanford. Governor [Appalachian Trail] Sanford, Joe [You Lie] Wilson, George [Rentboy] Rekers, and now Nikki [Will Folks] Haley – South Carolina is grabbing the front page with striking regularity. You reckon it’s a See South Carolina campaign by the Chamber of Commerce?

See, I think Sarah uses “liberal rag” like kids use “fag” or “you’re so gay” these days. They’re just the handy derogatory term of the day, and they don’t even think about what it means. It infuriates my granddaughter who hears it all the time at school — and sometimes confronts them. Then they sheepishly say they didn’t mean anything by it. Sometimes they don’t even realize the connection with homosexuality.

My point? Sarah’s mentality is stuck somewhere back there in middle school. She uses epithets for the effect — don’t look for any connection to the meaning of the word.
