Well we don’t often have news in the blogs about the blogs themselves. But there are big changes in the Carlat Psychiatry Blog. Danny is moving on to become a Conflict of Interest policy wonk with the Pew Prescription Project and leaving the blog. The Carlat Psychiatry Blog was where a lot of us learned about the corruption in psychiatry, particularly in CME. That was certainly true for me. His postings and book were a catalyst for my own nosing around and laid the base for my understanding the work of Senator Grassley and Paul Thacker. We owe him a debt of gratitude for awakening a lot of the efforts the restore psychiatry’s ethical balance. I’ve missed his postings for the last few months and wondered what was going on. I’ll miss him in the future, but hope his efforts with Pew continue his valuable contribution.I wish him well and thank him for the ride.

Stephany of Soulful Sepulcher, also a pioneer in the blogosphere, has some important points to make about disclosure and transparency in our own ranks related to Carlat’s merging his blog with Dr. Steve Balt’s Thought Broadcast Blog. Her concerns are posted on her blog [Dr.Daniel Carlat says goodbye to readers and blogging, appoints Dr.Steve Balt to Editor of Carlat Report].
