trojan horse or real reform? the jury’s still out…

UPDATE 10:41 PM:
[beginning at 1:37] “Well what we’ve done – well sequentially we’ve been increasing the level of data transparency around the data we generate on clinical trials. So we’ve been publishing clinical trials summaries for a while. We’ve now committed the publish all of our clinical trial reports that are detailed reports of those trials, and also the patient level data. Now nobody else in the world is committed to doing that…

[beginning at 2:02] “And we’re not simply going to publish data on trials still to come, but we’re going to go back and we’re going to publish all the data for all the trials that have been done since the company was formed… since 2000.”

[beginning at 2:33] “We’re doing it because we think it’s in the interest of patient safety, first of all, so that it gives as many people as want to look at the data a chance to make sure that absolutely the right conclusions have been drawn. If we’ve missed something, we want to hear about it…”
Obviously, this is would be a vast improvement over the past, but there’s a sticking point or two [thus the wisdom of the Dixie Chicks…]. There are inconsistencies in GSK’s various public discussions of this policy. The relevant references and the sticking points will be coming soon to a blog near you [like right here]…

Well, we’ll see what they do.. There’s always hope it’s in the right direction.

It’s hard to ignore inconsistencies though.

Actually… It’s REALLY hard to ignore them..

Is nothing actually something? By doing nothing can they actually claim they have done something?

If I were to contact Sir Witty and ask him to listen to my story about Paxil addiction, would he want to hear it? Furthermore, would he do something about it… bearing in mind that nothing, to GSK, is probably something 🙂

    TinCan, Fid,

The sins of the fathers are out there for all to see. This born-again campaign is obviously an attempt to put all of that behind them and sail into Sweet Beulah Land:

      I’m kind of homesick,
      For a country,
      To which I’ve never,
      Been before…

Knowing, as we do, that Foxhole Conversions have a way of fading fast in the land of milk and honey, the task at hand is analogous to making sure that the ankle bracelet is firmly attached and fully charged.

An actual confession of sins past would help…

On behalf of the UK’s pharmaceutical company, GSK, apologise that Paxil was introduced to America and has caused so much grief and carnage to children and adults in your wonderful country.
I am ashamed to be British when this carry on has penetrated your country.
Our carry on, UK, is carrying on, and God Bless America, but the law in the UK is circumvented by odious interference by a company who thinks it is above the law.
We will carry on, and the shackles of misfortune will one day drop onto the doorstep of GSK, like a meteor shower, of that I am certain……….
