I think I missed some key point. I’m trying to think of a good analogy here. So, let’s say I’m a chef’s assistant and I’ve sworn to keep all of their recipe’s secret and I take that very seriously. Then my best friend comes in the restaurant to eat and they want to order something that has an ingredient in it that they are deathly allergic to. Would I be breaking my promise to the chef if I were to say, “Hey, this has that ingredient in it that will kill you”? The bottom line is we are talking about LIVES here. The lives of the American forces and the lives of the Iraqi people. I don’t see how telling the American people that we were being misinformed in some way would have broken his promise to keep the information confidential. Top secret is important, but when it means you are protecting a lie that will cost lives it’s NOT WORTH IT! Way to go Senator.
