So I avoided politics after we got back for a few days, but now I can’t seem to stop "catching up." The issue of granting immunity to telecoms that participated in the NSA Domestic Spying program strikes me as absolutely ludicrous. Their position is that they participated in an illegal program at the government’s request, so they should be granted immunity. No dice! People who have gone along with the Bush craziness should’ve known better. CIA Agents who tortured people should’ve known better. Telecoms who opened their lines should’ve known better. Immunity says it was okay. It wasn’t. Hopefully, Dianne Feinstein will reverse her support for immunity:
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., who sits on the Judiciary and Intelligence committees, said she is re-evaluating her support for retroactive legal immunity. She voted to approve it as part of the Intelligence Committee bill. "I did support [immunity] in the intel bill and I’m giving it further thought," she said.
The American people are as responsible for oversight as government agencies.
