Yesterday, McCain adviser Nicolle Wallace dismissed the fact that Gov. Sarah Palin has yet to take any questions from the press. “So what?” she scoffed. Today on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, campaign strategist Rick Davis suggested Palin might never sit down for an interview if, he said, it’s “in our best interest” to keep her away from the media:
SCARBOROUGH: Yesterday Nicolle Wallace suggested that she was sitting right there and told Jay Carney of Time magazine ‘Sarah Palin doesn’t have to talk to you, she doesn’t’ have to talk to the press.’ … Can we expect Sarah Palin on Meet the Press and other one on one interviews throughout the course of this campaign?DAVIS: We’re going to do whatever we think is the best to win. We have 60 days left and if we think it’s a good idea to go out there and do those shows, we’ll do them.SCARBOROUGH: Can you avoid it? Meet the Press?DAVIS: We can afford anything we want to do. … We’re going to do what we think is in our best interest. If that means access to the press, we’ll give it to you.
"But there’s the debate coming up on October 2nd. She can’t duck that.""It’s probably a 2 part strategy: first, it would prove what we’ve been saying: she’s not prepared."
"The other part, though, is a scam. They’ll create this image that she must be so bad that don’t dare expose her to the press, then expectations for her performance in the debate will be way low, and (with 3 weeks crash cramming) she will exceed expectations. Voila !!! Another great triumph."
This reminds me of “Singing in the Rain” where Lina Lamont wants to go on stage and talk but they won’t let her and she says, “Wadda ya’ think I yam-dumm or sumpin?” That’s exactly what this reminds me of. Later, she’s made everyone hate her so they go ahead and let her go on stage where she is exposed for a fraud. We can only hope that Palin has the same luck. That this avoid the media stunt will expose her for the vicious, “right”eous, fraud that she is.
Can you even imagine Democrats doing what Bush/Cheney have done for 8 years? Can you imagine Obama or any other Democrat who was running for the Democratic nomination putting someone like Palin on the VP ticket? Thinking about the above actually gives me a headache. I like Smooooochie’s take on the Palin story. You really do have to have a sense of humor about this McCain/Palin ticket. From here on out when Palin comes out of the Republican protection program I’ll think of her as Lina Lamont’s character saying “Wadda ya’ think I yam-dumm or sumpin?” Thanks Smoooothie.
