Scandal-plagued Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich could announce on Monday that he will leave office, the state’s top legal officer said on Sunday…
"We have heard that there is a possibility that tomorrow he will make an announcement where he will step aside," Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan told NBC’s Meet the Press. "I don’t know if that means he will resign or take another option that is provided under the Illinois constitution where he can voluntarily recognize that there is a serious impediment to his ability to carry out his duties, and therefore temporarily remove himself," she said…
Scandal-plagued Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich will not resign Monday, his spokesman said Sunday, but pressure to do so continued to grow on the governor to step aside before he is impeached.
Blagojevich was arrested last week on charges of conspiracy to swap political favors for cash, including an attempt to sell the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Barack Obama following his November presidential election victory."We have heard that there is a possibility that tomorrow he will make an announcement where he will step aside," Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan told NBC’s "Meet the Press."
But Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero Sunday denied the governor planned to resign on Monday: "I can confirm the no resignation."
At the risk of terminal redundancy, this is that hermeneutic of suspicion that I was babbling about the other day. It’s a general attitude that there’s some dark secret in every crevice, a hidden scandal behind every story.

After a two year long campaign where Obama has been cast in every possible negative role and survived, I hoped it would be over [Yes, I still clap to bring Tinkerbell back to life when I see Peter Pan; and I’m comforted when the Santa at the store has a real beard]. But it’s not over. And, if I let myself think about it, it shouldn’t be over yet. Trust is an earned thing, and it’s going to take a while for Obama to earn it. So be it. I just hope his puppy turns out to be as comforting as mine. That helps. And I hope [audaciously] that when he makes a mistake, he’ll run to the nearest podium and tell us all about it himself.
In the meantime, Blagojevich needs to exit stage left pronto – or be exited. "Temporary Removal" isn’t going to cut it – not in 2008 or any time in the forseeable future. Back to ambulance chasing for him when he’s got some quality non-prison time [if his Law License survives]. And Rahm Emmanuel can come out of hiding and tell us what’s up. If he was a bad boy, he can go back to being an Illinois Congressman. Then Obama can go looking for a real Saint for his Chief of Staff. And it looks like there’s going to be trouble for Holder from several directions [he’s got a bannana problem].
Personally, I want to scream bloody murder. Something like, "We’ve lived with Bush, Cheney, Delay, Rumsfeld, Feith, Wolfowitz, Cunningham, Foley, Craig, Nye, Abramoff, etc., and you people are yelling at us! When we had an emergency in Bush’s first year, we rallied around him, knowing that you’d elected us a real limited guy [we didn’t yet know that his morality was as limited as his smarts]. And now you’re pointing a finger at Obama because he didn’t go along with crooked Rod Blagojevich, but he hasn’t yet been forthcoming enough about his staff’s contacts?"
One of Obama’s personal friends and aids looks like she could standin for Tinkerbell, I think her name is Ms Jarrett. It’s not like you are expecting too much of the new administration or anything. I haven’t laughed in a while but you certainly gave me a chuckle this morning with this piece.
