Panel chides Bush on bypassing laws
ABA group cites limits to power
In a world where a lot of us have lost faith in the "Main Stream Media," one must note the exceptions – like Dan Froomkin of the Washington Post, or Murray Waas of the National Review. But Charlie Savage of The Boston Globe deserves special mention. He’s single-handedly stayed with the Presidential Signing Statements story. President Bush and his sidekick, Dick Cheney, have attached Signing Statements to Congressional Legislation that, in many cases, say that he’s not going to uphold the law. This has been an unprecedented new use of this "power." Well, Charlie Savage has stayed glued to this story, and lo and behold, the American Bar Association, no less, has come out swinging challenging this absurd abuse of power.
No one ever intended for the President to have a mechanism to invalidate a Congressional Law except veto.
Yeah Charlie!
