WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — South Carolina’s primary election for Republican governor will head to a runoff, the Associated Press reported Tuesday. State Rep. Nikki Haley will now face U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett after Haley failed to win 50.1% of the vote. The race has been electrified by charges of adultery leveled against Haley, which she has denied.

GEORGIA:

GOP Graves elected to US House in Georgia runoff
By SHANNON McCAFFREY [AP]

ATLANTA — Republican Tom Graves has been elected to the U.S. House in a special election runoff in Georgia. With 67 percent of precincts reporting, unofficial returns show Graves with 59 percent of the vote on Tuesday, defeating Republican Lee Hawkins who had 41 percent.

The 40-year-old Graves will fill the remainder of Nathan Deal’s term that runs through the end of the year. Deal stepped down earlier this year to seek the Republican nomination for Georgia governor. Graves ran with support from the Atlanta Tea Party Patriots, the anti-tax group Club for Growth and Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the U.S. House.
These are the three election results I was following. I’m hopeful for Blanche Lincoln, in spite of her moderate stances, because she’s sponsoring the "derivatives" regulation amendment in the financial reform bill which I see as key. I’m following the South Carolina Governor’s GOP race because it’s so ‘racy.’ And I’m sad to say that the TEA Party victory in Georgia is my Representative. It’s not a big deal, really. Nathan Deal was awful. Actually, Tom Graves is a more rational person – probably honest [as opposed to Deal]. This part of Georgia is absurdly conservative no matter what [in case you wonder why I write all of this stuff in a place where dialogue is not possible – keeps me sane].

NEVADA:

LAS VEGAS — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is on his way to a tough November election in Nevada. Reid easily overpowered a field of little-known Democratic challengers Tuesday to win the party’s nomination for a fifth, six-year term.

His primary election win was never in doubt. The senator’s real battle begins after Republicans pick their nominee from a list that includes tea party favorite Sharron Angle, former state Sen. Sue Lowden and businessman Danny Tarkanian.
11:34 PM [Tom Schaller]. On a night when my states don’t have many interesting storylines, a good story developing in NV GOP senate primary. Just 20 percent of precincts in as of 11:21 EST, but tea party favorite Sharron Angle, with 35 percent, leads a crowded field including Sue Lowden (33 percent) and Danny Tarkanian (21 percent).
