We drove to Eastport on the other side of Passamaquoddy Bay, and on the way back, stopped for a look at the "reversing waterfalls" [you’ll have to take this a bit on faith]. As you can see Denny’s Bay has only a small inlet/outlet. High Tide was a little after 4:00 PM.
Standing on the point [green], we watched the rapids slowly disappear, then reappear going the other direction within the hour [it’s the direction thing you have to take on faith]. Pretty cool in person:
Apparently, if you sit there all day, the submerged rocks make it become a real "falls" [in my next life]. Here’s somebody else’s aerial shot as it approaches low tide:
He’s not kidding. I was there and saw the whale. By the time I got my camera pointed in its direction, it was back under water, and although 6 of us stood there and watched for about 10 minutes, it never resurfaced. 🙁 What was a whale doing in Denny’s Bay? It was way off track.
Beautiful!
