| The Rev. Pat Robertson said Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is being punished by God for dividing the Land of Israel. Robertson, speaking on the “700 Club” on Thursday, suggested Sharon, who is currently in an induced coma, and former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, assassinated by an Israeli extremist in 1995, were being treated with enmity by God for dividing Israel. “He was dividing God’s land,” Robertson said. “And I would say, Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U., the United Nations or the United States of America. God says, This land belongs to me. You better leave it alone.”

Is it any wonder that Americans are seen as kind of crazy in a lot of places in the world? Pat Robertson has taken his personal god-channeling to a new pinnacle of poor taste. One wonders if Pat’s worrying about what will happen to the inane JesusLand Theme Park on the Sea of Galilee he’s so excited about building?
In case no one else gets around to saying it, Pat Robertson is a destructive self-serving charlatan who doesn’t know when to shut his mouth! Whatever history will say about Arial Sharon, he has been a prominent figure struggling to deal with one of the biggest problems on our planet, and he deserves our respect and sympathy at this time. He does not need to be a character in Pat Robertson’s comic book view of the world…

I think he’s just insane. The stuff that he says usually has no basis in reality. It’s unfortunate that a lot of people seem to be able to interpret the things that spew out and agree, like reading tea leaves with less logic.
