“we have to be right 100% of the time”

Well, as usual, when Bush comes on T.V., my feet just carry me out of the room. Tonight, it happened when he said, "we have to be right 100% of the time." My leaving the room is like a Magic Carpet. I don’t even know it’s happeneing. Not even Cutie Katie Couric could keep me there. But as I left, my wife was bursting out in laughter.

"Huh," I inquired.

She said, "He just said, ‘the hardest part of my job is connecting the dots between the War on Terror and the War in Iraq.’"

That is pretty funny. It’s hard, as we all know, because the "dots" don’t connect!

The pundits are saying Bush’s releasing prisoners for trial is an election year ploy, or a plot to give the Congress something to talk about to keep incumbants from making mistakes by tackling anything that matters [that might hurt their re-election chances]. But I actually think it’s a victory for the home team, no matter what Bush thinks is or gives as his reason. The Supreme Court said for him to do it, and he’s afraid not to. I like that, making him operate within our system.

But I have nothing more to say right now, because I can’t won’t don’t watch. I’ll read it tomorrow. Each of us has our own way of maintaining some kind of mental health. Not watching is mine…

You should have seen the look on Katie Couric’s face! Her eyes were squinted, her brow furrowed, and she appeared to be desperately trying to believe her ears.
