Well the airways are a-titter about the 911 movie on ABC which apparently paints Clinton’s White House as ‘blowing it.’ The blogsphere is up in arms about historical distortions in this Disney production. You know what? It’s a trap. This is the way they work. They drive us nuts responding to crap like this and they win twice. First, they get their distorted little message out there. But worse, they get us up in arms and make us into targets for Rush, Ann, and Michelle. We’re so rattled that we forget what we’re about.
The best role model here in Karl Rove himself. When attacked, he does absolutely nothing. He goes on about his business with cold determination. He ignores all criticism. And he advises his charges to do the same thing. It’s very effective.
There’s another thing. Most of us can’t even watch the film of the towers falling yet, much less a film about it. I’ll bet it’s a movie watched primarily only by people who are already Bushed. And who cares what they say about Bill Clinton. They’ve been running against Clinton since 1998. The Clinton = Democrats paradigm is way out of date. They might get a bang out of that with the Rushites and the Coulterites, but again, they’re already a lost cause.
The blame for 911 falls clearly on the shoulders of Osama Bin Laden and his dead operatives. We all know that. Our job is not to worry about this silly movie. Our job is to hammer on Bush’s daily attempts to weld the War on Terror to the War in Iraq. Anything that interrupts our focus on this lie, and the N.S.A., and the pre-war intelligence is a successful ploy by Karl Rove. We need to be as impervious to criticism as Rove, and as steadfast in our "Mission."
