Armitage confirms…

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

The Hollow Men – T. S. Eliot (1925)

I was looking up CBS News to let them know I wasn’t going to be watching Katie Couric anymore. I just can’t tolerate the possibility that she’d put Rush Limbaugh in my face again like she did tonight. But I ran across this, Richard Armitage on tape saying he did it – outed Valerie Plame.

If Armitage hadn’t spouted off, I think it would’ve been Judith Miller doing the "leaking." Wouldn’t that have been just a wonderful thing? We’d have her in the spotlight, and we’d have her whole notebook – with the notes and sources for her disasterous pre-war intelligence stories. Armitage said he ‘let the Administration down‘ [by leaking]. I wonder if he didn’t ‘let the Administration off‘:

What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.

Burnt Norton – T.S.Eliot (1934)
