Somebody let somebody else down. That’s what they’re saying.
James Dobson said it loud and clear. The Republicans lost the election because they weren’t strong enough on the "values" issues – abortion, gay marriage, and stem-cell research. It’s hard for me to imagine what he’s talking about. I don’t know what else he could’ve done. He opposed everything they wanted him to oppose. He appointed two reactionary Supreme Court Justices – made one of them Chief Justice. He had the faith based initiative programs. What more could he do?
Rush Limbaugh said Bush let down the Conservatives. How could that be? How much more Conservative can you get? Bush is Conservative bordering on the outer reaches of Fascism.
The Neoconservatives said Bush let them down by not putting more troops in Iraq. Where was he going to get them this side of cloning the ones we’ve already got?
People said Rove let Bush down – the boy genius failed. What was he going to do? Dirty tricks abounded. Speeches were made. Gas prices fell. Stocks went up. Saddam got sentenced. Rove’s only human.
The one thing they aren’t saying is that Bush let the American people down. And that’s the right answer…
