our little war…

I was opposed to the Iraq War before it started and for every second it has been fought. That said, I’d like to say some things about how it’s been conducted.

We were told that we were going to war with Iraq because they were building Atomic Bombs and Chemical and Biological weapons. That was not true and our leaders knew that they had no evidence that it was true. The real reason was a sort of secret – we had a new foreign policy called the Bush Doctrine:

  • Pre-emption
  • Unilateral Action
  • Strength Beyond Question
  • Spreading Democracy
So we declared pre-emptive war on Iraq, acting unilaterally. When we failed to find the dire weapons, the Iraq War was reframed as a part of the War on Terror, called Operation Iraqi Freedom [Spreading Democracy], and it hasn’t worked. Why hasn’t it worked? We didn’t do the Strength Beyond Question part. Why not? We didn’t do that part because we would have had to reinstitute the draft. Had we done that, it would have worked, at least worked better.

Why didn’t we reinstitute the draft? Because it might have been unpopular with the voters and the little white boys and girls that live in the suburbs would’ve had to fight in it. That would’ve really not been good because their parents would’ve been really mad that there weren’t any bad weapons and would’ve raised holy hell when some of them were killed. So the Bush Doctrine was really:

  • Pre-emption
  • Unilateral Action
  • Strength Very Questionable
  • Spreading Democracy as an excuse for ignoring our intelligence
What can we do about it now? March in the streets and vote for principled people rather than people who tell us whatever we want to hear so they can do whatever they want to do…

I’ve linked this on my site. You are dead on once again, Mickey. Our little war was based, like their form of government, on incompetent theory and it’s failed. Now, where did I put those marchin’ shoes?
