lest we forget…

My wife, a more seasoned political junkie than I, Tivo’d the news reports while we were gone, and is watching the news from Tuesday night. What’s missing in the coverage is the dark underbelly of this Administration. They’re not taking about The Bush Doctrine, a policy of American Dominion and a bailing out on the […]

2006  DEMOCRAT REPUBLICAN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 229 196 SENATE 51 49 Well, we did it. No, not we the Democrats, though that we was unusually effective. No, not the we Americans, though that we was spectacular – made me proud. The we I’m talking about is we, my wife and I. We went camping on […]

the ends justify the means…

Press Conference by the President "Right. No, you and Hunt and Keil came in the Oval Office, and Hunt asked me the question one week before the campaign, and basically it was, are you going to do something about Rumsfeld and the Vice President? And my answer was, they’re going to stay on. And the […]

On Point: The real Ted Haggard Here’s what I still want to know about Ted Haggard: Before his downfall last week, was he an anguished sinner, as he now maintains, or merely a calculating pleasure seeker? Was he kicking himself for his weaknesses or laughing at a world full of chumps? Was he sorry all […]

We need not dwell on George W. Bush’s failed effort to jam a poorly disguised amnesty for illegal […]

Bill O’Reilly has a new book, Culture Wars. But he’s just, as always, a hanger on, capitalizing on the long-standing rhetoric of Patrick Buchanan. Patrick Buchanan was a journalist for the Saint Louis Globe-Democrat for forty years before he became  the unflinching anchor for his particular brand of American Conservatism. He made the move from […]

"Father, give us grace and mercy. Father, help us this next week and a half as we go into national elections, and Lord we pray for our country. Father, we pray that lies would be exposed. We pray that deception would be exposed." Pastor Ted Haggard’s Sermon, October 29, 2006 Pastor Ted Haggard’s Letter, November […]

Some years ago, I went to a presentation about religion and psychoanalysis, "Is there a meet?" The speaker was a respected colleague, an academic Biblical scholar who was also a Pastoral Psychotherapist. It was a good presentation with lots of interesting ideas, but there was one point at the end that stood out. He said […]
