The papers are full of recaps about the soggy Superbowl in Miami yesterday, but don’t have much about the real Superbowl in Washington – the Libby Trial. So far, the trial has brought lots of things out into the open, and from my [totally unbiased] perspective, has erased any doubts that:
- The entire Administration got involved in the response to Joseph Wilson’s oped piece.
- The Vice President directed the whole "outing" of Valerie Plame himself.
- Libby is guilty of what he’s been charged with [and more!].
Today, Libby’s Grand Jury testimony on tape. They’re trying to stop it from being released to the Press, but I can’t see their logic. They’re afraid it will sensationalize the Trial? Please! Sensationalize the Trial already! They’re still trying to keep their Iron Curtain in place.
- Libby [version 1]: I found out about Valerie Plame’s C.I.A. status from Tim Russert on July 11th and just passed it on to other reporters.
- Libby [version 2]: Oh yeah, Cheney told me on about her on July 12th, but I forget about it.
So, today, we [hopfully] will be able to follow the Trial and read about the Libby testimony on Firedoglake.com. I asked Marcy Wheeler, in the comments on The Next Hurrah, if the GJ testimony would be blogged. She responded:
mickeyAFAIK, the tapes issue relates just to our ability to get Scooter’s voice–and max remixes of it. Swopa will liveblog the transcripts. And then they’ll be released as evidence.
So, at last, we get to hear read it for ourselves…
