Nova M radio talk show host Randi Rhodes slammed Rush Limbaugh for suggesting Barack Obama’s last trip to Hawaii to visit his dying grandmother actually was because Obama’s birth certificate was illegitimate, and not because of her rapidly failing health. Obama’s grandmother on Nov. 3, one day before the US presidential election.
"Rush was on the radio, I guess Thursday or Friday when I’m driving in to work," began Rhodes. "And Rush was saying, ‘Why did he have to go back to Honolulu? His grandmother’s not dead. She hasn’t died. There was no need to rush back. I think he went back there to change is birth certificate.’"
"He actually said that it was a rouse," continued Rhodes. "That Barack Obama’s grandmother wasn’t sick, that she wasn’t terminal, and that she hadn’t died yet, therefore that was proof that Barack Obama had to work in the shadows to change his birth certificate."
"I hope Rush Limbaugh is so ashamed of himself that he has to find a new housekeeper to go get the OxyContin from the Denny’s on Belvedere road"…
I can’t listen to Rush Limbaugh on the radio. Life is too short to waste it listening to his contempt, sarcasm, and conscious lies. He’s just a bully from where I sit, but I gather he has a large audience and has become rich talking like this. I’ve looked in on his web site about once a week for several months and today is typical:
In today’s offering, Limbaugh says:
• Barack Obama’s goal is to destroy the middle class
• US about to elect radical, marxist, antisemite [jew-hater]
• Obama didn’t have the courage to walk out on Reverend Wright
• The Messiah [Obama] flips McCain the bird
• Obama flips Hillary the bird
• Caller sees Marxist Revolution
• Obama sends his illegal aunt’s illegal campaign contribution back to her in the slum.
And "Drive-Byes begin their CYAs." Somehow, a "Drive-By" is a newscaster [I don’t get the metaphor]. Here’s the transcript that goes with the heading:

There are a couple other reporters now, we’ve got a story, guy’s been following Obama for a year-and-a-half, 18 hours a day, says he doesn’t know who he is. RUSH: And as we said to Tom Brokaw last week, well, dispatch a reporter, call on the reporters you’ve had on the plane and do a reporting job on Barack Obama. They’re covering themselves because if he turns out to be this wild Marxist leftist… with Clinton, folks, we had a moderate liberal. Juan Williams is saying this. Juan Williams is saying we’re going to find out who liberals really are if Obama wins the presidency. Compared to Clinton, who was a moderate, this guy is off the charts far left, Juan Williams saying so today.
What is this about? Who listens to such things? None of this stuff is remotely true. All of this Marxist stuff apparently derives from Obama’s comment to Joe the Plumber, "Spread the wealth around." But the comment about Obama’s trip to see his grandmother? Where does that come from? He’s implying that Obama is not even an American. Rush Limbaugh is a phenomenon that has had an enormous impact on our political life, but is largely ignored by the targets of his attacks because he is so absurd. At issue: if he is this absurd, why does he persist? Why isn’t he sued daily for defamation of character?
