Instead of wasting time debating dinosaur issues like DADT and trying to return America to the joyous days of Joe McCarthy, our legislators could be thinking about things like this from the LA Times – problems that matter. Click the link below for their video report…
Do you think Senator Richard Shelby represents these kids?
Gosh Joy – Senator Shelby seems to be all over this – look at this evidence of his phenomenal work on behalf of his constituents in Prichard…why, the city of Prichard gets to share over $227,000 with the city of Mobile (and Mobile County) for new police vehicles and, moreover, there is even enough money for the constabularies to obtain paper clips and maybe even mechanical pencils! Wow!
Shelby Announces $532,691 for Alabama Law Enforcement
September 8, 2009
Washington, D.C. –
U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the Department of Justice will award a total of $532,691 to law enforcement agencies in eight Alabama cities. These grants are awarded through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which provides funding for law enforcement agencies to implement programs that prevent and control crime based on their own identified needs. Senator Shelby was instrumental in securing this funding.
“In many of my 67 county visits each year, district attorneys and law enforcement officers express the importance of the Byrne grants,†said Shelby. “This underscores my strong belief that the individuals serving on the front lines of our communities each day know best what their departments need to successfully do their jobs. Providing funds directly to our law enforcement officers allow them to control crime based on their own needs and is one of the best ways we can support our crime fighters.â€
