Throughout the evening, I’ve had all three BP feeds open on a side screen as I worked on other things. For a long time, the showed either still shots of tubes or nothing at all. Recently, one of the ROVs went on tour and showed un any number of things, none identifiable. On the other feeds, robot arms maddeningly tied and untied knots or wrestled with tubes squirting dispersants.
We’ve been shown nothing of the leak itself or the saw. So, as of 10:45 PM, there’s nothing to report [except that the robotic arms are much more deft in movies than on undersea cams].
At around 11:00 PM, the feed changed and a robot arm was wrestling with the object shown [new to me] with tubes coming from the square on top. It seemed to be over the leak. I did a screen grab, then the feed went dead. Now all the feeds are of open water. I thought it might be the cap [meaning they’ve cut through the pipe]. It was bucking wildly when the feed went dead.
12:00 MN Now they’re back to panorama shots of their machines, away from the leak. To bed, with hopes of awakening to a capped well…
The live feed just came back. So much for my speculations. It’s just like it was this time last night with no sign of the saw. Still cut only halfway through. Bummer…
