chilcot returns…

Hans BlixWith our dawdling economy, oil gushing into the Gulf, arrogant insubordinate General, Tea Party, and other gloomy news of the days, it’s easy to forget to look back at how we got here. Well the British are still at it. Remember to Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq War? They ended a round of public hearings in March. In the meanwhile, they’ve visited France and the U.S. Recently, they released a list of thirty-five new witnesses for public hearings to run from June 29th until July 30th. It’s a wide range of witnesses, not so well known as last time, but plenty interesting enough. Among those named – Hans Blix, Executive Chairman of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission, 2000 – 2003. As before, the hearings will be live and available at http://www.iraqinquiry.org.uk.

And that’s not all folks. There will be another round of public hearings in the fall. The final report is expected at the end of the year. I for one will be at rapt attention. Watching the exploration of the tawdry history that got us here is far more interesting to me than wading through the sludge of where we ended up.
