Well, sometimes things work out oddly. The snow began to fall up here around midnight and we have a couple of inches. It’s on the ground, but the trees aren’t covered which bodes well for our electricity. We’re in a "slot" in the storm which roughly follows the lower Appalachians and were spared from the big hit. We’re at the white dot and the storm is moving in the direction of the arrow.
As a kid, I would’ve felt short-changed. As an old man, it’s fine with me. This is our third storm this winter and I’m kind of over it. If the "slot" persists, we might miss the brunt of the predicted freezing rain. This is the "up-down" part of the world and you can’t go anywhere without being on some part of a hill/mountain, so an ice storm is a disaster – too much for our County’s sole snow plow to handle [an ttachment bolted onto the front of a truck]. This is, after all, the South…
I just checked the local TV weather report. It said we got 8″ here. Well maybe a couple of miles from here, but not at our house. I’m guessing 2″ tops.
Looks like we might be in the slot here in Raleigh/Wake County, as well… Here’s hoping we can avoid a mess!
