{"id":2340,"date":"2008-09-03T15:49:20","date_gmt":"2008-09-03T20:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/1boringoldman.com\/index.php\/2008\/09\/03\/2340\/"},"modified":"2008-09-03T15:49:47","modified_gmt":"2008-09-03T20:49:47","slug":"2340","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/1boringoldman.com\/index.php\/2008\/09\/03\/2340\/","title":{"rendered":"last gasp&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p align=\"justify\">I just watched Minority Leader Boehner at the RNC Convention with a gaggle of Republican Congressmen who are staging a protest to get Speaker Pelosi to reconvene Congress to set up some kind of energy policy they call &quot;all of the above.&quot; They called Pelosi&#8217;s 110th Congress the &quot;do-nothing&quot; Congress. Oh yeah, the &quot;all of the above&quot; plan includes [with emphasis] off-shore oil exploration.<\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">Even though it has been made clear that:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\">Off-shore drilling could not possible produce oil for years even if they started drilling tomorrow.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\">Our off-shore oil reserves are minimal and could <u><strong>never<\/strong><\/u> solve our oil needs.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div align=\"justify\">These points have been acknowledged by the President, the Vice President, and John McCain [who said off-shore drilling might have some &quot;psychological value&quot;].<\/div>\n<p align=\"justify\">Yet, the Republican have made off shore drilling a cause celebre` mentioned by President Bush last night and this gang of Republican Congressmen today. Why? It&#8217;s just what they do. It&#8217;s a way to blame the Democrats for the oil prices diverting attention from the real do-nothing Congress of 2000-2006 [1994-2006]. And it is a way of ignoring the fact that Dick Cheney&#8217;s oil policy from his conference two weeks into the Bush Administration involved invading Iraq and stealing her oil.<\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">But the main reason for this big push for off-shore drilling? <font color=\"#400040\"><strong>It puts money in the pockets of the big oil interests that run the Republican Party<\/strong><\/font>.
