And though it&#8217;s honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make.&quot;<\/div>\n<\/ul>\n<div align=\"justify\">I see. So you abandoned your state and your responsibilities, with no record of accomplishment to speak of, all for the sake of your country, because of a higher calling? If you re-read her explanation once again, she is clearly aiming at Barack Obama, claiming that while he gets to leave during his term for a higher calling [office] without criticism, she doesn&#8217;t. Puh-leeze! <\/div>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">Palin doesn&#8217;t even have the guts to come out now and say she&#8217;s running for president; instead Saint Sarah In Heels places herself on a pedestal as a victim, who is only trying to make the world and kids safe from Barack Obama. She feels that by cloaking herself in this higher calling, she can have all the benefits of being a movement candidate while bashing the media for subjecting her to scrutiny. A real profile in courage.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<div align=\"center\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/seattletimes.nwsource.com\/html\/politics\/2009419614_palin050.html\">Palin links resignation to &#8216;higher calling&#8217; and blasts media in Facebook posting <\/a><\/strong><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div align=\"justify\">Maybe Sarah&#8217;s right, we are a bunch of idiots. We think there must be some rational reason for Sarah Palin to resign as governor of Alaska &#8211; some coming indictment, a presidential run, lucrative speaking engagements, pregnancy. Maybe we should consider her argument, &quot;<em>And though it&#8217;s honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make.<\/em>&quot; Maybe we should put aside our skepticism &#8211; like &quot;<em>what countless others?<\/em>&quot; or &quot;<em>called by whom\/what?<\/em>&quot; Maybe we should not take the bait when she says, &quot;<em>for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make<\/em>&quot; and not tell her the obvious reasons we have a different standard for her.<\/div>\n<p align=\"justify\">If we were thinking right, we&#8217;d look at Sarah Palin in the context of her life &#8211; growing up in the Wasilla Assembly of God Pentecostal Church. In these churches, one of the major tenets is to personally experience the &quot;holy spirit&quot; and to be guided by it &#8211; to be &quot;called.&quot; My favorite waitress at our local &quot;meat and three&quot; is an ordained minister at such a pentecostal church [we practice &quot;don&#8217;t ask, don&#8217;t tell&quot; about such matters at lunch]. So when Sarah says &quot;called,&quot; in her world, that has a very different meaning than it does to the general godless hippie that blogs about such things.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"181\" border=\"1\" width=\"451\" title=\"Wasilla Assembly of God Church\" alt=\"Wasilla Assembly of God Church\" src=\"http:\/\/1boringoldman.com\/images\/wasillaag.jpg\" \/>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">To the rational psychologically informed observer, this &quot;calling&quot; business looks like responding to one&#8217;s <font color=\"#300030\"><strong>felt emotions or desires<\/strong><\/font> as if they come from some outside greater spirit. But in a pentecostal church, it&#8217;s simple &#8211; it&#8217;s the <font color=\"#300030\"><strong>voice of God<\/strong><\/font>. And heavenly &quot;calling&quot; isn&#8217;t the only kind. There&#8217;s Satan&#8217;s &quot;calling&quot; too &#8211; like Jimmy Swaggart or Ted Haggard. But that&#8217;s generally about sex and such and requires some heavy duty repenting.<\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">Sarah feels &quot;called&quot; to evangelize about the gospel of the religious right. The template is in the Gospel of <font color=\"#300030\"><strong>Mark<\/strong><\/font> [16], and it&#8217;s the bedrock of Pentecostalism:<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<blockquote>\n<div align=\"justify\"><em>15: And he said unto  them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every  creature.  <br \/><\/em>   <em>16: He that believeth and is baptized shall be  saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.  <br \/><\/em>   <em>17: And  these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they  cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  <br \/><\/em>   <em>18: They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. <br \/><\/em>   <em>19: So then after the Lord had spoken unto  them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of  God.  <br \/><\/em>   <em>20: And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.<\/em> <\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div align=\"justify\">along with <font color=\"#300030\"><strong>Acts<\/strong><\/font> [2]:<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div align=\"justify\"><em>1: And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all  with one accord in one place.  <br \/><\/em>   <em>2: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. <br \/><\/em>   <em>3: And there appeared  unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of  them.  <br \/><\/em>   <em>4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and  began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them  utterance.&nbsp;  <\/em><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div align=\"justify\">And why is what Sarah says so hard to follow?
