The Worldwide AIDs epidemic has finally peaked and the incidence of new cases on the wane. The graph below is the Worldwide incidence of people living with HIV from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unaids.org\/en\/KnowledgeCentre\/HIVData\/GlobalReport\/2008\/2008_Global_report.asp\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><font color=\"#200020\">UNAIDS 2008 Report<\/font><\/strong><\/a> [with the new 2008 figure added]. For the first time since AIDS has been tracked, the number has not risen. It&#8217;s held steady for a year. <\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"5\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/1boringoldman.com\/images\/aids.gif\" \/><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"70\" hspace=\"4\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.usa.gov\/roller\/govgab\/resource\/images\/AIDSRibbon.gif\" \/>In addition, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unaids.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><font color=\"#200020\">UNAIDS 2009<\/font><\/strong><\/a> update reports that the infection rate is down 17%&nbsp; based on eight year trend analysis, with the biggest fall in Sub-Saharan Africa &#8211; the hardest hit area. In a time when our financial and political problems preoccupy us, it&#8217;s easy to forget things once as imponderable as the AIDS epidemic, and to forget that the <strong>UN<\/strong> and the <strong>World Health Organization<\/strong> have successfully rallied the countries of the world to do something about it. It&#8217;s been twenty-eight years since Case Zero, and while the epidemic continues and&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.voanews.com\/english\/news\/health\/aids-react-decapua-24nov09-72620292.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><font color=\"#200020\">challenges remain<\/font><\/strong><\/a>, this is very good news &#8211; a reason for giving thanks.
