In case you haven’t heard, Dave Letterman was supposed to have John McCain as his guest tonight but McCain cancelled at the last minute. Letterman was pissed, beyond pissed. Apparently, McCain called him and said he was flying back to Washington because of the financial crisis. Lettermen couldn’t stop talking about it. Then, in the middle of the show while talking to Kieth Olberman about McCain cancelling, he finds out that McCain is, in fact, in a nearby studio being interviewed by Katie Courik, and Letterman then shows this interview being set up live on his show. Here’s a piece of it below. Don’t worry about seeing it all now, because it will be rerun for years to come - perhaps becoming the future paradigm for “mega-gaffe”…
