tic, tic, tic…

The Bush White House is like the old ‘iron curtain’ of my youth. Who knows what goes on in there? But I know that I woke up this morning with Karl Rove on the brain. That speech [below] right before he was ‘revealed’ has been with me since he gave it six months ago. It’s a classic piece of his work. Every sentence contains an obvious lie, a simplified distortion of the facts or the truth, painting his opponents as less than fools, and the contempt drips from his every word. Maybe we don’t know what goes on behind the White House doors, but we know what they say when they come outside, and it’s not pretty.

I’m sure I woke up thinking about him because I so want it to be time for Fitzgerald to nail him. I know he’ll only do it if he has an airtight case, and I suppose that’s as it should be. But I’m allowed to wish [not that I’ve got any choice]. Karl Rove is facile with words. He knows how to slime people without raising his voice with a smile on his face. People like him have no legitimate place in government, and I sure hope Fitz has enough on him to help him find a way out of it. Knowing Bush, he’ll keep him around, but a nice multicount indictment will at least keep Mr. Rove busy and less available for underhanded mayhem.
