the hearings?

I’m not sure why they call them "hearings." I just tried to watch, and I didn’t "hear" very much. Shumer is asking questions. Gonzales is not answering questions by saying anything except, "the President has the authority to…" Anything else he bats away as either attempts to get at operations or unanswerable hypotheticals. One sort of interesting thing. Gonzales repeatedly says he would have to check on this or that. Check with whom? He’s the top guy. He repeatedly says he can’t speak for the President. What’s he doing there?

I characterized his statement yesterday as "No." That’s the way it’s playing out so far. Maybe they ought to call them "watchings."

On a positive note, they are apparently going to call Ashcroft, Comey, and Goldsmith. Let’s hope we "hear" something from them…

4:25 PM Lord, those things are hard to watch! Orin Hatch is one of the most boring talking heads ever to speak. What difference can it possibly make for him to prattle on? This is supposed to be an investigation, not an exposition. When it’s said and done, the only desirable outcome is a Special Prosecutor – no matter what they say.
