is the dam finally about to break?

Posted on Tuesday 26 September 2006

Since this weekend with the Clinton Interview, the N.I.E., the General’s Testimony, the Bolton non-confirmation, Pelosi’s call to Congress [UPDATE: Her proposal failed by a vote of 171-217.], and now the ‘declassification’ of the N.I.E., one has an "Okefenokee feeling" [Okefenokee means "trembling earth"].

Is the dam finally about to break on the Administration and let us get back to the business of being the Constitutional Democracy that our Founder’s willed us to be?

    No.
But the ‘declassification’ of the “NIE” IS a larger rubber bisquit than usual.
–Interesting (isn’t it?) that chewing on this document, keeps the declassified portions of the PHASE II doc. OUT OF THE DIALOGUE?

    dc,

You’re absolutely correct on that point Dawn. I guess, in a way, I’ve fallen for the diversions and forgotten the deceit that got us in this “unholy” mess in the first place. There’s so much to keep up with these days…

M, I was hurrying here–didn’t mean YOU, I meant ALL OF US. You have a better grasp on PHASE II then most…

I’d been inundated w/radio (CNN) reports about Bush’s (staged?) ‘concession’ to release portions of the NIE –ALL DAY yesterday. I think it came too-quickly/easily, not-to-have-been-planned. I’ve barely gotten through the POSTWAR findings chapter of the PHASEII doc. Haven’t even downloaded the Chalabi chapter [I’m trying to get Wyden’s office to mail it to me 🙂 ] And now I’m supposed to turn my attention to a less-actionable document that Dubya WANTS to declassify?
    Oh NO, not me…

I think the quiet release of the (fairly redacted) 2 chapters of PHASE II AND the yet to be released ‘chapters’ which [in my opinion] will reveal the true magnitude of the treasonous lies~ are where I’ll stay.

Keep on all your good work though~ did you see this?

“This sinister amalgam is to equate leftist, nationalists, anti-globalization activists, etc., with fundamentalist Islamic terrorism. It assumes such terrorism will occur, and, as such, is a set-up for a crackdown on such groups.”

[…] Last week I asked, "is the dam finally about to break?" Not a bad question, now that I look back on it… […]

[…] The place I thought that marked the final straw" was the Chris Wallace interview with President Clinton this September. That was the best spontaneous temper tantrum in recent history. About the same time, there was that ridiculous Disney movie about 911, the National Intelligence Estimate was leaked. I wrote, is the Dam about to break? We all felt it. Then there was Hubris, and State of Denial. So, I think the relentless hammering to get the truth in the open by the bloggers, the Daily Show, Olberman’s Countdown, finally joined by the Press, the careful work of Patrick Fitzgerald, the Democrats like Murtha and Reid who jumped into the lead – all of those things – finally woke up responsible Americans to the fact that we were being conned by a bunch of unprincipled incompetents. So, I don’t agree with Dole totally. "All of it" had to get through a bunch of roadblocks, and there was an extraordinary effort mounted on multiple fronts to get that to happen. […]
