we know what you said…

So today it comes as no surprise that the White House is setting timetables and benchmarks for the Iraqis to agree to by the end of the year, and if they fail to meet those benchmarks, we will change our strategy regardless of the situation on the ground. In other words, the White House flip-flopped. Even worse, Bush demonstrated pure delusion and total mendacity when he said to ABC that he has never stood for “staying the course”, even though he has said exactly that at least a half-dozen times. A man who can lie like that in the face of a large record that contradicts him is a man who has no business being Commander in Chief.

BUSH: We will stay the course. [8/30/06]

BUSH: We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. [8/4/05]

BUSH: We will stay the course until the job is done, Steve. And the temptation is to try to get the President or somebody to put a timetable on the definition of getting the job done. We’re just going to stay the course. [12/15/03]

BUSH: And my message today to those in Iraq is: We’ll stay the course. [4/13/04]

BUSH: And that’s why we’re going to stay the course in Iraq. And that’s why when we say something in Iraq, we’re going to do it. [4/16/04]

BUSH: And so we’ve got tough action in Iraq. But we will stay the course. [4/5/04]

No backing out now, Sir. We heard what you said. The days of giving you a pass because you’re an idiot are over. Just go to Texas and clear brush please. Please!

And take Karl with you…

Dubya thinks history will be kind to him–and it MAY be –Because the neocons intend to BE the authors! The stay the course line, like everything else from this ‘administration’ is plagerized !!!

Bush scabbed it off Paul Wellstone (~or at least his handlers did, anyway).

Wellstone [RIP]in front of VietNam War memorial, July 1991, in a passionate delivery at an ANTI WAR press conference, said “Why not STAY THE COURSE, WITH ECONOMIC SANCTIONS, AND DIPLOMACY–WHY NOT STAY THE COURSE?”

A couple a months later, he said “The rush to war, will NOT create a NEW WORLD ORDER (Mr President) IT WILL CREATE A NEW WORLD DISorder…”

Prophetic enough that you can bet the handlers, ROVE, et al have scoured Wellstones speeches and likely the Puppet is regurgitating his words, with an OrRovian twist, of course…
