There have been some documents from the Niger forgery story released as part of the Libby Trial. eriposte has compared them to the previous versions of same documents in the Phase 1, SSCI Report [because different parts are redacted]. His results are, as always, fascinating. But the summary statement is that the redactions don’t have to do with national security. They have to do with deceit – specifically that we knew they were forgeries well before they were used to justify the war. The truth was obscured by redacting phrases that made that clear.
