blockbuster…

Larry FranklinOver on the side of things, there’s a court case that’s a a blockbuster. It’s a case against two former officials of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee [AIPAC] who are accused of unauthorized receipt and disclosure of classified information. In this case, Larry Franklin has already been convicted. He was a DoD official, right hand man to Douglas Feith in the Office of Special Plans at the DoD. He passed classified information to these two member of AIPAC. Steve Aftergood who writes the blog Secrecy News for the Federation of American Scientists Project on Government Secrecy has the details. First, the judge is going to allow the presentation of classified material at the trial [AIPAC Court Adopts Silent Witness Rule]. Previously, he allowed supoenas to be issued to the top government officials implicated in some aspect of the case, including:
  • Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of State (then-National Security Advisor)
  • Richard Armitage, former Deputy Secretary of State
  • William Burns, U.S. Ambassador to Russia
  • Marc Grossman, former Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs
  • Lawrence Silverman, Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy to the Slovak Republic
  • Matthew Bryza, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State
  • Marc Sievers, Political Officer, U.S. Embassy to Israel
  • David Satterfield, Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State and Coordinator for Iraq (then-Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs)
  • Stephen Hadley, National Security Advisory (then-Deputy National Security Advisory)
  • Elliot Abrams, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisory for Global Democracy Strategy Affairs
  • Kenneth Pollack, former Director for Persian Gulf Affairs for the National Security Council
  • Paul Wolfowitz, former Deputy Secretary of Defense
  • Douglas Feith, former Undersecretary of Defense. He headed the DoD‘s Office of Special Plans. He was the source of Administration claims that there were ties between Hussein and al Qaeda. He’s also a Zionist and a thoroughly obnoxious and self righteous fellow who ought to already be in prison himself.
  • Michael Makovsky, former employee of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Office of Near East and South Asia
  • Lawrence Franklin, former Department of Defense employee
Douglas FeithWhy is the case a Blockbuster? It involves Israel spying on us. It involves a Deputy [Larry Franklin] to a Zionist [Douglas Feith] in the DoD who was fomenting war with Iraq and fabricating justifications for that  War. This Deputy [Larry Franklin] also accompanied Michael Ledeen of AEI on a trip to Italy during the time when the Yellow-Cake Uranium forgery emerged as a justification for the War. None of us know how all this fits together, but the trial may bring some of that into clearer focus. Stay tuned…
