the charge of the horses and camel…

Posted on Thursday 3 February 2011

I have this to report about the charge of the horses and camel in downtown Cairo yesterday by the Mubarak supporters thugs other people. Horses, plenty enough, but I could only find one camel and rider – shown above [reviewing multiple videos]. The demonstrators were able to pull the cavalry of the counter-demonstrators off of their horses with ease, but the sole camel rode back and forth with relative impunity [losing only the rider’s head wrap towards the end of the charge]. Conclusion: Sensible Egyptians don’t mess with camels. Having met a few camels on our trip there last year, I wouldn’t either..

I wonder how many people know that President Hoover ordered General Douglas MacArthur to do the same thing to WW1 veterans who demanded bonus money promised them. The vets set up camp in a DC park and with Patten who led the calvary of 200 horses and men with 400 ground troops to get rid of them. We have our own tinenman square.
